What type of web site do you need?

The type of website you need depends largely on what you would
like to achieve from your online presence.

There are 5 basic types of web sites:

• Brochure
  
  Brochure websites basically tell who you are. They can promote your business or organization and make available details of your company and its latest services and/or products.
   

• Community/Organizational
  
  Community/Organizational websites bring together and organize a group of people around a common interest or objective. These websites tend to be interactive providing two-way communication features which invite visitors to share information.
   

• Catalog
  
  Catalog websites display, and allow searching for, products and/or services. They are basically on-line databases.
   

• Directory/Reference
  
  Directory/Reference websites incorporate large lists, or databases, that can be searched for in different ways. These sites may include technical manuals, archives of reports or articles or any other kind of reference information.
   

• E-Commerce
  
  E-Commerce websites give the ability to sell products and/or services over the Internet. A basic e-commerce website allows customers to select purchases and provide payment information either online or offline. Some e-commerce websites allow customers to search a catalog using different criteria, add products to a "shopping cart", complete and confirm the purchase online.
